Day 1: Welcome to Shanghai

Today marks the start of your Learning Adventure, so you’ll transfer to Shanghai this morning and meet your Adventure Leader in the city. (Note: we can arrange this transfer from your school’s location.)

Once arrived, you’ll quickly find your feet in the city with the chance to visit a couple of key landmarks, including People’s Square and Nanjing Road. Nanjing Road is one of the world’s busiest shopping streets, so you’ll quickly get a feel for the business bustle of the city! You’ll also pay a visit to the original headquarters of HSBC, located at the Bund.

This evening, get a new view of the city as you take a leisurely cruise up the Huangpu River!

Day 2: Shanghai

Today, students will get the chance to take part in a series of hands-on local business experiences that provide them with fantastic insight into Shanghai’s position as a key player in the global financial market. They’ll pay a visit to the factory districts of the city, with the chance to pay a visit to one of the factories. (Note: previous examples of visits include IKEA and Volkswagen.)

Next, they’ll take a tour of the financial district – a global hub for businesses – and grab a bird’s-eye view from atop the soaring Shanghai World Finance Center.

We’ll then have a unique experience designed to teach students more about cutting-edge applications of technology in Shanghai, with a presentation from an employee at Shanghai’s Disney Resort about how technology is harnessed and optimized within the park for millions of tourists every year.

Day 3: Shanghai Disney Resort

It’s time to combine the learning of the previous day with a chance for some unmissable fun – a full day trip to Shanghai’s Disney Resort. Students spend the day exploring this sprawling adventureland, complete with an evening fireworks show as the sun sets.

Day 4: Shanghai

Shanghai is a fascinating city that fuses modern development with vibrant Chinese history – so today, students get the chance to experience both.

A visit to the Yu Yuan Garden, a 5-acre botanical garden with a rich history that dates back to the Ming Dynasty, provides students with the opportunity to learn more about Chinese history and see some beautiful examples of architecture. They’ll also get the chance to sample Xiao Long Bao dumplings, a steamed dumpling often filled with ground pork.

Students will also get a further glimpse into Shanghai’s role as a tech hub with a company visit and talk from employees.

Finally, they’ll spend an evening having fun with a trip to the ERA Acrobatics Show, a spectacular performance that combines traditional Chinese performance art with cutting-edge technologies.

Day 5: Farewell

Sadly, today marks the end of your finance and technology trip to Shanghai, so this morning you’ll transfer back home.
