Day 1: Welcome to Chiang Mai

  • Touch down in Chiang Mai, ready for the start of your culture school trip to Thailand. Meet the Adventure Leader at the arrivals gate, transfer to your accommodation at the gate, and settle in. Come back together for a trip briefing, where the Adventure Leader will explain details about your travel plans, give advice on adapting to local culture, and provide tips on staying safe.
  • It’s then back out into the city for a half-day sightseeing tour around Chiang Mai. Explore the city’s temples and cultural landmarks before returning to the hotel for some well-deserved rest.

Day 2: Chiang Mai

  • Visit Doi Pui, the highest peak in the Doi-Suthep Pui National Park. Famous for its pristine natural beauty and majestic waterfalls, spend some time exploring this beautiful natural landscape. While at Doi Pui, pay a visit to the Hmong Tribe village, Ban Kun Chang Kian. Enjoy a wonderful cultural experience in this village, where they’ve been able to keep their traditions alive, to learn more about their customs and heritage.
  • The Karen Hill Tribe are the largest tribal group in Thailand. Today, visit a local Karen Hill village to learn about their local life, from the traditional arts and crafts they still create to the local medicines still in use. Learn about their locally-sourced food customs and then prepare to eat – a truly farm-to-table meal!

Day 3: Chiang Mai

  • Today, students visit an ethical elephant sanctuary, where they’ll learn about elephant behaviours, as well as the sanctuary’s conservation efforts across Thailand. They’ll spend time with professionals, watch elephants in their natural habitat, and can even help prepare treats for them.
  • Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang are two iconic Buddhist temples located in the heart of Chiang Mai, renowned for their stunning views. After visiting the two temples to take a look at their beautiful architecture – take some time to explore the local area. The streets are lined with markets, making it the perfect place to do some shopping with local businesses.

Day 4: Chiang Mai

  • Your group has a day that’s packed full of adventure today! They’ll try their hand at rock climbing on majestic limestone cliffs near to the area – not only is this great fun, but it also encourages teamwork, trust and responsibility, as students both climb and belay their peers. Along the way, they’ll be supported by certified instructors.
  • Northern Thailand is home to some of the most spectacular caves in the world. Caving takes students on a wild and educational tour of some of the many caves that make up the beautiful landscape, and they’ll learn about the environment of the caves, as well as the area’s geological history.
  • Learn and practice Thai language skills in a language class today! Students can master the basics, as well as useful phrases to try out in the local area and take home with them.

Day 5: Chiang Mai

  • Today, students get to spend some more time embracing the adventure of a school trip to Thailand – they’re heading whitewater rafting! While negotiating the rapids of the Mae Taeng River, take a second to watch the beautiful scenery rush by – if you look closely, there’s potential to spot an elephant.
  • Visit the Lanna Folklife Museum, in Chiang Mai Old City, to learn the history of Northern Thailand’s culture. Learn about the Lanna peoples, their culture, traditions and ways of living, which have been practiced for centuries. These traditions reflect the beliefs that arose from the Buddhist faith of their ancestors.
  • On the last night in Chiang Mai, there’s a chance for students and faculty to come together for a reflection session. Using discussion and guided thought, the group can process their experiences and consider what they have learned about the region and themselves.

Day 6: Farewell

Sadly, today marks the end of your culture school trip to Thailand. Transfer back to the airport, and prepare to head home.
