Day 1: Welcome to Nepal

Touch down in Kathmandu, ready for the start of your cultural educational tour in Nepal! After being met at the airport by the Adventure Leader, transfer to the accommodation and settle in. Meet them later for a trip briefing, where they’ll explain what the week has in store, provide advice on adapting to local life in Nepal, and give tips on staying safe.

Enjoy a local welcome dinner before heading back to the hotel for some well-deserved rest.

Day 2: Kathmandu

Today, students spend the day visiting Kathmandu’s most beautiful sites, including:

  • Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site that translates to Palace Square. Surrounded by fountains, statues and courtyards, it’s an important site for Buddhist and Hindu rituals and events.
  • Swayambhunath Stupa and Boudhanath Stupa, two of the city’s most beautiful monuments, where students can learn more about Nepal’s rich religious history.
  • Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most visited UNESCO World Heritage cultural monuments in the Kathmandu Valley. While here, students will gain both an understanding of the site’s religious and archaeological importance.

Day 3: Kathmandu & Pokhara

  • Students spend some of their day hiking at Champa Devi. On this trail – a mixture of uphill, flat, and downhill pathways – they’ll expect to see gorgeous viewpoints and the amazing flora and fauna of the region. On the way, they’ll pass pine forests, the ranges of Mount Langtang, monasteries, and enjoy beautiful views of Kathmandu, Bungmati, and Patan. On the way back, they can also pay a visit to the Dakshinkali temple.
  • Today, students transfer from Kathmandu to Pokhara on a short plane ride. After arriving at the accommodation in the city, take some to rest up ahead of a busy day tomorrow!

Day 4: Pokhara

  • Discover the beautiful areas of lakeside Pokhara, located in the foothills of the Himalayas. Enjoy stunning views across the mountains, explore the local temples in the area, and learn all about its religious history.
  • Take to the water with a delightful boating experience on the Phewa Taal Lake – one of the most beautiful in Nepal! Students can have fun in canoes, all while getting astonishing views across the Annapurna mountain ranges.
  • This evening, enjoy a movie under the stars while surrounded by the beautiful natural scenery of Pokhara.

Day 5: Pokhara

  • Visit Bindabasini Temple, a historic temple located in the heart of the city, which is dedicated to the goddess Durga – Pokhara’s guardian deity. It’s now both a place of deep religious importance, and a key landmark for those wishing to learn more about Nepal’s religious history.
  • Be immersed in the bustling local culture of Pokhara with a city tour, where students get an insight into the city’s cultural and religious landmarks.
  • Today, students embrace a key part of the Buddhist tradition that’s so important to Nepalese culture – they’ll take part an immersive meditation session

Day 6: Kathmandu

  • Today, transfer back to Kathmandu from Pokhara.
  • Explore Thamel Street, a bustling area of Kathmandu filled with lively eateries and markets selling traditional Nepalese handcrafts. It’s also home to the Garden of Dreams, neoclassical landscaped gardens which date back to 1920.
  • On the final evening in Nepal, students and faculty will come together for a reflection session. Through discussion, listening and guided thought, participants can process their experiences and consider what they’ve learned about Nepal – and themselves – on the trip.

Day 7: Farewell

Sadly, today marks the end of your cultural educational tour in Nepal, and you’ll prepare to head home.
