Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Bali

Touch down in Bali, ready for the start of your culture school trip to Indonesia! After meeting your Adventure Leaders at the arrivals gate, transfer to the accommodation and settle in, before regrouping for a trip briefing. In this, your Leaders will explain the week’s travel plans, give advice on adjusting to local life, and provide tips on staying safe.  

The group meets again for a local welcome dinner this evening, before retiring to the hotel ahead of a busy next day.

Day 2: West Bali

  • Visit the Side by Side Organic Farm, to understand how safe, organic food is meant to be produced. Along with discovering the joys of organic farming, the experience also offers opportunities for volunteers to help out too. After learning about the work that Side by Side are doing, enjoy a delicious, healthy meal overlooking the Balinese landscape.  
  • Explore Bali’s stunning countryside up close, with a trek across verdant rice fields. Along the way, learn more about the area’s local flora and fauna.  
  • Today, transfer by bus from West Bali to Ubud – enjoying the rolling paddy fields and verdant mountains along the way! 

Day 3: Ubud

  • Master the art of Indonesian cuisine with a cooking class in Ubud. Learn about Balinese tastes and customs, as well as the use of herbs, spices, and other key ingredients. Lead by an expert cooking teacher, students will learn about to prepare healthy, locally-sourced regional meals.  
  • Discover the traditional dances of Balinese culture. Many of these derive from ancient tribal cultures, and you’ll witness examples like the Fire Dance, the Kecak Dance, and Saghyang Dance as they’re performed by locals. 

Day 4: Ubud

  • Pay a visit to an art studio in Ubud to learn the Balinese art of Batik. Students can try their hand at hand-painting fabrics, all while learning more about Balinese traditions and customs.  
  • At the Gianyar Town art venue, learn the art of Balinese wood carving. The venue is known the world over for its beautiful wooden scupltures, and today students have the opportunity to try it out for themselves.  
  • Today, transfer from Ubud to Canggu by bus. 

Day 5: Canggu

  • Take a tour around the many art workshops and markets that Bali is famed for. These show off Bali’s unique hand-crafted art, crafts, and woodwork – why not take some home as a souvenir? 
  • Today, students have the opportunity to volunteer in the local community which have embraced them throughout their trip. Learn more about travelling ethically and real-world sustainability as you take part in a beach clean-up activity, as you work with local people to tidy the shoreline.  
  • It’s time to eat! Visit a local night market, where students can indulge in a spot of shopping – and importantly, try some tasty local cuisines, from satay to bakso.  

Day 6: Canggu

  • Students get unparalleled insight into the conversation work taking place in Bali with a visit to the Turtle Conservation and Education Center (TCEC). The Center was developed as part of a comprehensive strategy to eradicate illegal turtle trading on the island, by supporting the local community through education, tourism, conservation and business – all while protecting endangered species.  
  • Embark on an amazing half-day hike, which takes in the Manggis jungle – with spectacular views out to sea. Local guides from within the community make this trek a warm, engaging educational experiences. Students will hike all the way to a beautiful waterfall, which is also a local spiritual site thanks to the giant Golden Brahma statue which presides over it.  

Day 7: Nusa Lembongan Island

  • Spend a full day exploring the stunning Nusa Lembongan, one of Bali’s true paradises. While there, pay a visit to a seaweed farm, to learn about how the local community sustains itelf, and assist with the planting and harvesting too.  
  • Explore Mahagiri Beach and its iconic yellow bridge, before moving on to explore Dream Beach.  
  • Round off an incredible school trip to Indonesia with a once-in-a-lifetime snorkelling adventure in a local conservation area, where projects to regrow coral populations are underway. 
  • On the final evening in Bali, come together for a reflection session. Through discussion, listening and guided thought, participants can process their experiences and discuss what they’ve learned about Indonesia, Balinese culture, and themselves throughout the course of the week.

Day 8: Farewell

Sadly, today marks the end of your culture school trip to Indonesia. Transfer back to the airport, ready to head home!
