Sample Itinerary

Day 1: The Eiffel Tower

Students can start their French adventure off, as they arrive at Gare du Nord/Charles de Gaulle airport and hop on public transport to their hotel. On the way, the Learning Adventure guide will give everyone some fascinating general knowledge about the area and get students up to speed with trip rules and safety guidelines.

Once students have checked into the hotel, it’s time to start exploring! For their first activity, students will take a boat ride along the River Seine, they will then stop off to climb the Eiffel Tower. This is a perfect chance for students to look out onto the city they are about to explore.

In the evening, soak in the beautiful view of the iconic Eiffel Tower from the Trocadero esplanade at sunset and watch it twinkle as it lights up. Students will then end the day feasting on a well-earned welcome dinner.

Day 2: Sorbonne University Lecture

This morning, students will start their day with a city tour to stop off at all of Paris’ must-sees, like the Notre DameLatin QuarterPlace de la Concordela ConcergerieAvenue des Champs-ElyséesArc de TriompheSainte ChapellePlace VendômeLe pont de l’Alma (Lady Di memorial) and Port de La Bourdonnais.

Get ready, it’s going to be an intellectual afternoon. Head for Sorbonne University, one of the most prestigious institutions in the world, to take a tour and take notes at a lecture.

Get ready to laugh out loud at a stand-up comedy show in English, performed by a French comedian.

Day 3: Language & Politics

Step into the heart of French language and tradition with a visit to the legendary Académie Française – the birthplace of the first French dictionary! Students will dive into a lively discussion on the institution’s role today, weighing its impact on the modernisation of the French language.

Next, students will dive into the dynamic world of modern French politics. They’ll hear firsthand from a member of the Gilets Jaunes (Yellow Vest movement) or En Marche, gaining real insight into the issues shaping France today.

Savour a delicious dinner in the lively Montparnasse district, then head to the top of the Montparnasse Tower to watch the sun set over Paris with breathtaking panoramic views.

Day 4: French Slang

Kick off the day with a fun and eye-opening activity – even the teachers might learn something new! Dive into a French slang lesson and uncover the roots of verlan, the street slang that’s shaping modern French, much to the horror of the traditionalists at the Académie Française!

It’s then a quick 2-hour journey to Lyon, where students will spending the next couple of days. Once students have checked into their accommodation, they will take a city tour to see the highlights of Lyon. During the city tour they will earn about how it’s developed a reputation as the capital city of gastronomy.

Lyon boasts some great food, like Lyonnaise potatoes and saucisson de Lyon. Try it tonight!

Day 5: Journalists & Debating

Step behind the scenes at Le Progrès, a major regional daily newspaper, and explore its printing room in action. Then, meet a French journalist and get the inside scoop on what it’s really like to report the news in France.

Get engaged in a French language lesson, tailor-made for a variety of levels. Then, get involved in – or just watch – a debate at Café de la Cloche, a centuries old café famous for inviting people to speak and debate.

Day 6: French Speaking Skills

It’s time for students to test out their language skills as they haggle for some last-minute souvenirs at the Lyon markets.

Next, jump into a fun French improv class where students can practice thinking on their feet, boost their fluency, and sharpen their spontaneity.

For the final evening, students will roll up their sleeves for a French cooking class to learn how to make a famous French dish. Once they’ve feasted on their dinner, they can put their feet up at a traditional French cinema to enjoy a local film.

Day 7: Au Revoir!

It might be home time, but it’s not over. France’s incredible culture and fascinating language will follow students back to the classroom…and beyond!
