Day 1: Explore Rome

Morning/Afternoon

Step off the plane and take a private coach to your accommodation. Check into the hotel and make your way out to explore all of Rome’s must-sees. Marvel at the historic Trevi fountain, the Pantheon and the Spanish Steps.

Evening

Feast on a welcome dinner and come together for a trip briefing to get you prepped for the week’s adventures.

Day 2: The Colosseum

Morning

Start early and pick your way through the Campo di Fiori or Porta Portese flea market, where you’ll experience local Italian hustle and bustle, compare prices and learn about the history of this important trading area.

Afternoon

Enjoy a guided visit to the Colosseum and Roman Forum and take part in the Learning Adventure photo competition. There are so many interesting facts about these ancient sites – did you know the Colosseum was used to stage ‘naumachia’? They’d fill the theatre up with water and hold real naval battles.

Evening

After dinner, walk down the Via del Circo Massimo for beautiful views of the Palatine Hill before visiting the Garden of Oranges for superb views of the Vatican.

Day 3: School Visit and Mosaic Making

Morning

Visit a Roman school that has been specially matched to meet your educational interests. Walk in the shoes of an Italian student for the day, taking a school tour, joining lessons, playing sports and participating in activities.

Afternoon

Stop off at a local Roman’s house. Learn about how mosaics were used in the past and make a mosaic souvenir for yourself!

Evening

Eat like a local this evening at an Italian restaurant.

Day 4: Vatican City

Morning

Head for the Vatican Museums to see the Sistine Chapel and walk down the secret passagewayPassetto di Borgo, for an elevated view of the city. End up at the Castle Sant’Angelo.

Afternoon

After lunch, stop by the courtyard of Palazzo Spada on Piazza Capo di Ferro and peep through the window for an optical illusion of the garden.

Evening

After a long day of out-and-about learning, roll your sleeves up for a pasta-making lesson and, of course, enjoy your tasty creations for dinner! For dessert, indulge on traditional Italian gelato.

Day 5: Naples’ Mosaics

Morning

Catch the train to Naples and check into your accommodation.

Afternoon

Grab some lunch, then get exploring! Start off with a walking tour around the city. Take in incredible panoramic views of Vesuvius from a castle and indulge on fabulous Neapolitan snacks. Afterwards, visit the National Archaeological Museum to see the original mosaics that were discovered and brought back from Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Evening

It’s been a day of great food – so don’t break the streak! Dine at a traditional Naples pizzeria.

Day 6: Vesuvius & Pompeii

Morning/Afternoon

Spend the day on a guided tour of world-famous Mount Vesuvius and dare to stare into its depths. Then, walk through the ancient streets of Pompeii, filled with history and preserved by Vesuvius’ volcanic eruption.

Day 7: The Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence

Morning

Hop on a train and wave a happy hello to Florence.

Afternoon

Once you’re off the train and checked into your accommodation, embark on a tour of the city. First stop, the Galleria dell’Accademia. This is your chance to stand face-to-face with Michelangelo’s Statue of David, as well as a whole host of other statues and sculptures.

Day 8: The Galleria degli Uffizi

Morning

Start your day examining works in the Galleria degli Uffizi, one of the most important art museums in Italy. Marvel at the collection of Renaissance paintings and take part in the Learning Adventure scavenger hunt.

Afternoon

You’ve seen some incredible art – now it’s time for you to be the artist! Roll up your sleeves for a traditional pottery painting class. Learn all about the painting technique called majolica, then follow step-by-step instructions as you paint a plate with an original design from the 15th century.

Evening

For dinner, hunt out some Italian cuisine and take an hour or so to shop for souvenirs.

Day 9: Bike Tour in Tuscany

Morning

Start the day off with an easy one-way bike tour through the beautiful Tuscan countryside.

Afternoon

Stop off at a local farm to fuel up. Feast on fresh homemade bread and delicious local extra virgin olive oil. Refreshed, take your train back to Rome.

Evening

It’s your last night – celebrate this unforgettable experience with a big Italian dinner.

Day 10: Say Ciao!

It might be home time, but it’s not over. Italy’s vibrant and varied culture, history and art will follow you back to the classroom…and beyond!
